Northerns Prize Giving 2017

Our Rising Stars - The Next Generation!

Tigers Shine at Club Level

We are proud of every single “Tiger” that represented their various club teams this past season. Our boys were often outplaying and out-performing their counterparts and as the various prize-giving ceremonies take place throughout the region it is clear to see that our academy boys have done us proud. By us I mean the coaches and parents.

At the Benoni Northerns Cricket Club prize-giving this past weekend, the following boys were recognised by the club for their contributions to their teams. Well done boys – you make us really proud.

Declan Young

Declan played in the Benoni Northerns U10B team this season. He had a fantastic season all-round but his batting was phenomenal. His batting average for the season was 27.43 and he was named Batsman of the Season. Congrats Declan!

Trent and Declan Bell

Double-trouble here, especially for any batsmen! Trent Bell was named the U10 Super League Bowler of the Season and brother Declan was named the U8A Bowler of the Season. Trent boasted a strike rate of 12.00 for the season and Declan proved to be a batsman’s nightmare with an economy rate of 2.00 for the season. Well done boys!

Kody Fourie

Kody is Mr Fearless and only knows one thing – piling on the runs. This he did through out the season. Kody led from the front for the U10 Super League team at Northerns. He amassed an impressive 286 runs this season at an average of 40.86. For his fantastic performance with the willow, Kody received the U10 Super League Batsman of the Season award, as well as the U10 PLAYER OF THE YEAR award!

Well Done Kody – awesome performance!

Evan Fouche

Evan represented the U12 Super League team at Northerns this season. With his impeccable timing and powerful batting, Evan piled on the runs this season. Evan was one of only two junior players that were acknowledged for scoring centuries this season, Evan having scored 101 runs in a single innings earlier on in the season. For his amazing performances with bat in hand, Evan was named the U12 Super League Player of the Year, then to top it off, he also walked away with the U12 PLAYER OF THE YEAR award. Well Done Evan – keep growing and enjoying your game!

Matthew Bromley

You know the saying – “dynamite comes in small packages” – this perfectly describes Matthew. Handy with both bat and ball, Matthew has had a stellar season for the Northerns U8A team, helping to guide his team to victory in the league. Matthew received the U8A coaches’ award for Best All Rounder.

Matthew’s recognition didn’t end there, he was also named the U8 age-group overall runner-up. Matthew played 11 matches, scored 176 runs at an average of 44 and bowled 25 overs, taking 10w at a run-rate of only 2.04 rpo. Well Done Matthew – you have made your coaches and parents really proud!

Matthew Robinson

Matthew represented the Tigers as part of the Benoni Northerns U10B team and not only did he represent himself well this season but he too, excelled with both bat and ball, proving to be a real all-rounder.

He was recognized by his coach as the Best All-Rounder for the season for his team. Well done Matthew. Keep working hard Matthew and pretty soon, you will be the next super star playing in the super league or for the Proteas some day. Matthew accumulated 155 runs this season at an average of 38.75 and bowled 15 overs, only conceding 42 runs and taking 6 wickets.
